I don’t know about you, but for me, if I don’t get my morning cup of coffee, I’m grumpy all day. Think Lorelai Gilmore without her coffee – not a good situation. Here’s a list of some of the best places to get that caffeine boost in downtown Lexington.
High on Art and Coffee
If you’re needing a little pick me up food with your coffee, High on Art and Coffee is the place for you! They have sandwiches, ice cream and their famous womelets (waffle and omelet – genius, right?). Don’t forget to check out their online store which features everything from books to candles to wall art.
Lussi Brown Coffee Bar
Lussi Brown Coffee Bar is the perfect place for both coffee lovers and cocktail lovers. It has standard coffee drinks like espressos, lattes and cappuccinos, but check out their summer special list to mix things up a little bit – their Thai Iced Coffee looks delicious!
A Cup of Commonwealth
A Cup of Commonwealth has some of the friendliest baristas in town. While they make some really great coffee, they also want to bring community to the bluegrass through those warm (or iced) cups of coffee. Check out their extensive pay it forward wall to see if you can get a free drink!
Bonus! Chocolate Holler
Chocolate Holler is a sister store to A Cup of Commonwealth, and they have some of the yummiest hot chocolate in town for the non-coffee drinkers – but don’t worry you can always add a shot of espresso to your hot chocolate to make it a mocha.
Old School Coffee
Last, but certainly not least is Old School Coffee, which is located in a former schoolhouse that operated from 1881 to 1925. Their specialty lattes are to die for, with names that play off their Old School location such as The Teacher, The Principal, and my personal favorite, The Dropout. Grab a cup of coffee and chat with a friend or bring your laptop to do some work.
There are so many great places to get a delicious cup of joe. You really can’t go wrong in #downtownlex when picking a place to hang out, caffeinate or work.
